An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a small, independent home on your property. You might know them as granny flats, in-law suites, or backyard cottages. Whatever you call them, they solve some real problems: housing aging parents with dignity, generating rental income, creating dedicated workspaces or giving adult kids a landing pad that doesn’t involve your basement.
